Core Questions

Understanding the Model.

1. What is the RCR BIOSCOPES Crowd Fund concept?

It is a project-support framework intended to mobilise eligible financial or in-kind support for selected movie and audiovisual productions. Each campaign should identify the project, intended use of funds, target, timeline, risks and contributor benefits, if any.

2. Is every contribution an investment?

No. A contribution may be a donation, reward-based support, sponsorship, service or in-kind support, advance, loan, revenue-linked arrangement or another legally permitted structure. The exact nature must be stated in the project document before payment.

3. Are returns guaranteed?

No. Film projects face creative, completion, certification, release, audience, distribution and revenue risks. Projected returns must not be described as assured, fixed or guaranteed unless a lawful, enforceable instrument specifically permits such a commitment.

4. How is a project selected?

Projects may be reviewed for story and audience potential, budget realism, team capability, rights ownership, production readiness, compliance, distribution prospects and risk. Selection is discretionary and does not establish commercial success.

5. What can funds be used for?

Only for disclosed and approved project purposes, which may include development, cast and crew, equipment, locations, production, post-production, music and rights, publicity, festival submissions, distribution, insurance, audit, tax and contingency.

6. Will a crowd funder receive ownership or creative control?

Not automatically. Equity, copyright interest, revenue share, voting rights, consultation, screen credit and access privileges exist only if explicitly granted in a signed agreement.

7. Can an application or contribution be rejected?

Yes. RCR BIOSCOPES may reject, pause or return funds where documentation is incomplete, source of funds is unclear, compliance concerns arise, the project closes, or acceptance is otherwise inappropriate.

8. What information may be required?

Name, address, mobile and email, PAN or other tax details, government-issued identity, bank details, nominee or authorised signatory information, entity documents, beneficial ownership, source of funds and declarations. Requirements increase with value and risk.

9. How should payment be made?

Use only the official banking channel stated in the project communication or agreement. Account-to-account transactions only. Do not pay cash, use an employee personal account or rely on an unofficial QR code.

10. What record will the contributor receive?

Subject to the transaction structure: acknowledgement, receipt or invoice, payment reference, signed agreement where required, project identity, category and material terms. A receipt confirms payment; it does not by itself prove an investment or guarantee a return.

11. Can support be provided in kind?

Yes, if accepted in writing. Equipment, locations, services, transport, accommodation, technology or promotion should be valued, described, scheduled and documented, including tax and ownership treatment.

12. How are project updates provided?

Through the registered email, dashboard, website or official communication channel at stated intervals. Updates may cover milestones, material delays, budget changes, release progress and closing information, while protecting confidential production matters.

13. Can a contribution be transferred or assigned?

Only if the signed agreement permits it and RCR BIOSCOPES completes any required KYC, tax, regulatory and documentary review of the proposed transferee.

14. What if the target is not achieved?

The project-specific terms must state whether funds are returned, retained for a revised scope, carried forward, or deployed after a minimum threshold. No assumption should be made without reading those terms.

15. What is the refund or cancellation policy?

It is campaign-specific. Once committed costs are incurred, refunds may be restricted. Any permitted refund may be subject to documented deductions, timelines, bank verification and applicable law.

Precautions for Crowd Funders

Know Before You Commit.

Affordability

Contribute only surplus funds. Do not use emergency savings, essential household funds or high-cost borrowing.

Independent verification

Review the project note, budget, team, rights, timeline, use of funds, recoupment waterfall and distribution assumptions. Obtain legal, tax and financial advice for larger amounts.

Market risk

Audience demand, release windows, competition, platform policies, censorship/certification, publicity and distribution terms can change. Revenue can be delayed, reduced or nil.

Production risk

Cast or crew changes, permissions, weather, accidents, technical failure, rights disputes, reshoots or force majeure can increase costs or prevent completion.

Liquidity and patience

Film funding is generally illiquid and long-term. There may be no resale market or early exit. Be prepared for delays extending beyond the estimated schedule.

No reliance on projections

Budgets, forecasts, comparable-film data and projected collections are estimates, not promises. Consider downside and total-loss scenarios.

Rights clarity

Confirm whether you receive a reward, acknowledgement, sponsorship benefit, debt claim, revenue share or other right. Silence means no additional right.

Fraud prevention

Pay only to the officially notified account after verification. Never share OTPs, passwords or remote access. Beware of urgency, guaranteed-return language and unofficial agents.

Risk statement

You may lose part or all of the amount committed, and any benefit or return may be delayed or may never arise.
